Associate Clinical Social Worker #86307

Supervised by Bonnie Rae, LMFT #91089

Georgina “Gina” Mendoza Gutierrez, MSW, is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker specializing in supporting people through post traumatic stress, grief and loss, identity based emotional injuries/trauma, working with birthing peoples, LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. Gina graduated from the University of Washington Seattle School of Social Work.

She has been serving the queer, trans and gender diverse community in Los Angeles for the past few years, and providing mental health and case management services for people living with HIV/AIDS. Gina is a therapist who can be a witness to your journey while challenging you to sit in discomfort and find new, healthier patterns for coping. She primarily works from anti-racist, trauma-informed, strengths-based, attachment and relational modes of therapy paying close attention to clients’ varying identities, intersection of these identities, and understanding their experience from a socio-cultural perspective.  She is trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, utilizing these modalities to address rooted traumas in the body and soul.

She is very attuned to the experiences of gendered discrimination, racialized and intergenerational trauma, stress related to assimilation and acculturation, and learning to navigate systems not historically built to serve BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. It is critical to have a therapist who specializes in affirming you by exploring topics of sexuality, gender, and identity, coping with discrimination and oppression, and navigating family, friends and relationships. Providing the space to reframe and heal from traumas, and celebrate las fortalezas or resilience within us, she hopes to guide you towards expanding your self-acceptance and self-compassion in order to utilize ancestral and cultural wisdoms of wellness.

Outside of her role as a therapist, Gina is a birth doula, amateur ceramist, and cyclist within the AIDS/LifeCycle community.
